Swansea City v Luton Town - Friday 22nd February 2008

Swansea City v Luton Town - Friday 22nd February 2008
Friday 22 Feb 2008 [10:57]

Manager Roberto Martinez will celebrate his first year in charge of Swansea City tonight when Luton Town arrive at the Liberty Stadium for another vital League One clash (7:45pm).

Roberto was appointed just ahead of last season's trip to Yeovil Town on February 24th with the Swans struggling to clinch a place in the play-offs.

The Swans may have missed out at the death, but a year later and the popular Spaniard has turned the whole club around to proudly sit 11 points clear at the top of League One with 15 games to go.

"Time has really flown by," said Roberto. "But that's good because things have gone fairly well.

"I don't really want to assess the year I've had in charge, because the time to assess things is at the end of the season. That's when we'll have a clear picture on how well we've done.

"I'm still learning every week. When you stop learning, that's when you'll go backwards. I'm enjoying the managerial experience, although I obviously miss playing. But that was a conscious decision I made and I have no regrets."

But Roberto will put all the anniversary attention to one side as he goes in search of another victory that will take the Swans 14 points clear ahead of Saturday's round of fixtures concerning their promotion rivals.

Swansea will be without striker Guillem Bauza (groin), while Dennis Lawrence (knee) and Paul Anderson (hamstring) are not expected to figure despite returning to training this week.

Midfield trio Darren Pratley, Ferrie Bodde and Leon Britton are set to return after missing the midweek defeat to MK Dons in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, along with striker Jason Scotland.
