Wales will use Liberty to launch 2013 bid

Wales will use Liberty to launch 2013 bid
Tuesday 07 Dec 2010 [15:15]

Wales will look to become hosts of the European Under-21 Championships in 2013 - and the Liberty Stadium will be used to launch their bid.

The FAW will be at the home of Swansea City on Thursday (9 December) to outline their proposal of bringing the tournament to Wales in three years tine.

The young Dragons have come extremely close to reaching the finals on two occasions in recent years, narrowly missing out against England in the play-offs (2009) and just failing to reach the same stage for next years tournament on goal difference.

And a strong Swansea City representation has played a key part in the side's success with no fewer than nine players featuring under Brian Flynn in the last few years.

The other bidding nations for the 2013 tournament are England, Republic of Ireland, Israel, Czech Republic and Bulgaria.
